Wonderful to me!!
Date: 2004-12-06 | Rating: 5
I purchased this particular oven approximately 3-4 months ago, and have had nothing but successful experiences with it. I did not read customer reviews prior to my purchase, and am glad that I did not, for my thinking would have been distorted. It has toasted and baked items beautifully, without problem. I am yet to have any problems with buttons, and am happy with the product. I would definitely purchase another one.

Nice

All of my toaster ovens have been black and decker so I can't say what others are like but I like it. It gets the job done, heats up quick and is very easy to use. It is also very easy to clean, I have had this toaster... years and it is working fine. The accessory pans however are made of a[n] [inexpensive] material that does not clean well.

has worked fine for me

Just thought I'd write a quick review defending the honor of this simple toaster. I've had mine for about four years. Mostly bread and bagels. I've never had a problem with it. Nothing's broken off and nothing buzzes. Maybe I've just been lucky?

Treat it right, and it will treat you right.
Date: 2003-02-12 | Rating: 5
I don't know what all the bad reviews are about! If you treat it well this toaster oven will be the most responsive, accurate and convenient appliance in your kitchen. I have had the predecessor model to this one for 10 years or more, and never had a problem with it until a friend dropped it on cement while I was moving. Even then, the only thing that broke was the hinge on the door! I sold my old one in a garage sale (still working), and replaced it with this new one. It's almost exactly the same, and I look forward to another 10 or more years with it.

What is all the guff about?
Date: 2004-03-14 | Rating: 5
I only bought this toaster a month ago but I think it is great. It is compact, yet big enough to bake plenty of food in, it warms up quick, and you can mount it under your cabinets to save counter-space. I am glad I did not review the reviews first. I bought it in the store and it was the cheapest one there! I just hope my toggle switch does not break.

No complaints so far
Date: 2006-04-15 | Rating: 5
Just got this yesterday. It was unbelievably inexpensive at the local mart. Like, half ;o) hint hint Seems to toast just fine. The "medium" toast setting did a good job on two slices of bread. I set it to "max" to toast a bagel, and I had to stop it early! Unlike my old B&D toaster, which took two cycles to toast a bagel... Probay not the most even of toasting (it has one quartz element on top and one on the bottom) but, again, it's not like you're spending $150 here. The toaster function has a timer that tick-tocks down to zero, and it's kind of loud, but that's the only bad feature. Well, except for the stupid crumb-tray. When is Black & Decker going to figure out that a slide-out crumb tray is a good thing? The way B&D does it, removing crumbs takes two people and needs to be done outside, lest you fling crumbs everywhere and drop the toaster to boot.... But hey, for dirt cheap, what'd you expect? Controls are simple. I think the unit's lines are clean and attractive. Oven works well; 450 really is about 450, and "broil" gets it up above 500. (I measured it with an oven thermometer.) Obviously I can't speak to durability. My old cheap B&D toaster oven (similar bottom-end model) absolutely refused to die. After 20 years I finally got tired of looking at it, so I got this one. If the new one only lasts 5 or 10 years, I'll be thrilled.

Wouldn't Use Anything Else

We have purchased many toaster ovens in our live, but th first and best we have always had are Black and Decker. They toast everything well. The shelves are in the right positions. No it's not perfect, but I wouldn't buy anything else.

great

i did not purchase this oven from amazon the seller backed out at the last minute, but i did get one from ebay. it does eveything i was told it would do xcept it has to be a small pizza the only size that will work. great item.

Nice new format on the B&D 4-Slice Toast-R& Broiler oven
Date: 2007-09-28 | Rating: 4
I like the new shape of the oven. The inside is more square, so it fits four slices much better than my old B&D four-toaster. Also now fits a round casserole. The inside is also higher - less chance of burning your hands. Three-prong plug. The three knobs are a bit confusing. You have to use the two top ones to get the oven/broiler to work. Other than that, I really like it. Princesschecki

I use it relentlessly...
Date: 2009-04-05 | Rating: 4
I don't understand all the bad reviews on this thing...I've owned mine for over 4 years and it's been GREAT! Aside from the handle slipping off, which was easily fixed by tightening the crimp I have had no problems. I love this thing and If mine were to die...I'd buy another!

Didn't last, annoying features
Date: 2007-07-03 | Rating: 2
Several annoying features; for some odd reason there is two different timers, one for the oven, the other for the toaster, with a third dial for temperature. Either timer can be turned on without the actual heating element being on. The timer is mechanical and loud and can be on even if the oven is unplugged. This toaster oven did not last, the temperature setting feature melted and no longer heated the elements within a very short time period (year+)

Too much Oven, Not enough Toaster
Date: 2009-02-26 | Rating: 2
This was a gift. I would have never purchased anything so big. I am waiting for the day that it dies. Based on the reviews, its death is not that far away. Way too much oven for our needs. If you want something that toasts quickly, this is the wrong choice. I have two little kids that eat a lot of waffles, english muffins etc. By time this is done toasting, they are usually on to something else. Not for people who need to move quickly in the morning. The oven is a potential fire hazard. First of all, the whole thing gets really hot. Even the handle?. That is why it is less than $50. They put no energy into designing this behemoth of a toaster oven. I am giving this a 2 for now, I may revisit when and if it falls apart within a year.

bad bad toaster...
Date: 2006-06-07 | Rating: 1
I got this toaster oven & have had a *few* problems with it... Problem #1: after cleaning the toaster oven the first time, almost all of the numbers and markings rubbed off Problem # 2: the door handle detached from the glass door within 2 weeks Problem #3: the toaster oven and the sides of the handle get quite hot (which, aside from posing a fire hazard, is a big deal when the handle falls off when you are checking on food--you have to put it back on...) Problem #4: there have been at least 2 fires inside the toaster Problem #5: the baking mechanism broke so I can only toast (the blue indicator light does not light up when the oven is on bake & the toaster does not bake) Problem #6: the toaster alternates between taking forever to toast a piece of toast and quickly burning it Problem #7: the toaster toasts unevenly (I flipped my bread over half way through the cycle to make sure the sides got toasted more evenly) Problem #8: the baking mechanism did not work if the timer was not off (the blue light will not even go on) Problem #9 (more of an annoyance): if your toaster is unplugged & you turn the toaster knob on, the toaster will make the toasting sound (so you come back thinking you will have toast but in fact, the oven was never on) Well, I just ordered a new toaster because it is *difficult* (to say the least) to use this toaster, seeing as it has no numbers, markings, baking mechanism, and has a hot handle that falls off... not to mention the little fires it starts and the fire hazard it obviously poses. I figure Black & Decker knows about the fire hazard because the door has instructions of what to do if there is a fire inside the toaster (it says to close the toaster door & unplug it... it omits the important step of turn toaster off before unplugging--all consumers need is also the threat of electricution when using this defective product). After just 3 or 4 months in my possesion, this Black & Decker toaster will be let to rest/thrown away (3-4 months after it should have been). Please do not donate this toaster to Goodwill or to the needy if (I mean, when) you have problems with it--throw it away, it's quite useless & a hazard.

Junk
Date: 2006-09-05 | Rating: 1
I actually have had 2 of these. The first one I had about a month, when the toast timer stopped functioning properly. It would not shut off by itself like it was supposed to. It would just keep toasting the bread until it was charcoal. I would have to stand by the machine the whole time it was toasting so I could turn it off manually and not have burnt toast. I called Black and Decker and they sent my a new oven after I sent them the cord off the broken machine. Well, the second machine lasted about a year and then the bottom heating eliments stopped working. I've owned many toaster ovens in my life, and none of them died after only a year. I have a Proctor Silex machine that is 25 years old and still works. It looks REALLY bad, but it works. I pull it out to use, when my current machines die, until I get out to purchase a new one. I will not be purchasing anymore Black and Decker appliances. I had one of their Home Cafe machines a couple years ago and it turned itself on and caught on fire (see my review).I think Black and Decker's quality has really gone down the tubes in recent years, to the point where their appliances are fire hazards. I will not take anymore chances with my family's safty!

love it!

I love it! My work place has the same model so this is what I wanted for Christmas. Needlesstosay, Santa came thru. I only had it for a couple of days, but the one at work has been almost a year with lots of users so I hope to have mine for a while. Easy to clean. Can't wait to use the convection feature.

Good - But not quite all I thought....
Date: 2010-02-08 | Rating: 4
I wanted digital because I imagined the ease of using a microwave in a toaster oven. I really like the oven but the digital controls are a little compiicated so I get lots of "time-outs" before I get it programmed. The digital display is unlit LCD and the numbers are "faint" so I had to put the oven in a different place than I wanted it just so I could see the timer. The bottom line: If you don't have slow reactions and failing eyesight, this is a great product!

Black & Decker Junk!
Date: 2009-11-06 | Rating: 1
I purchased a Black & Decker toaster oven Model CT06305, top-of-their line with electronic controls, thinking I would have a well-made oven that would work well and last for years without mechanical control failure setting the house on fire. Well, it did work well, when it worked. And it does not seem that it would set the house on fire. In fact, now it is stone-cold dead. If I unplug it overnight, it may come to life, but not long enough to fully toast bread before going comatose again. It was 5-stars rating in my book, until it just failed. Junk like this is not worth even one star! No more B & D products of any kind for me anymore!

Awful Controls
Date: 2009-12-19 | Rating: 1
The digital controls fail miserably. Normally you'd expect that when an oven has a timer on it, the oven should shut off after the specified time has elapsed, yes? Not with this piece of crap toaster oven from Black & Decker. The problem is the timer doesn't start counting down until the oven is fully preheated. So if you put your pizza in for 10 minutes at 425 degrees it may actually be in there for 15 minutes -- 5 minutes while the oven warms up and 10 more minutes at full temperature. It gets burned. Have no doubt about it, your food is being partially cooked during that warming up period, but the timer doesn't account for this. Now, a stickler may say that's not following the instructions. The instructions clearly say to wait for the oven to preheat before putting in the food. Well, I don't want to wait. That would defeat the purpose of having digital controls. I want to put my food in, press a button, then go watch TV. Plus, any time you stop and restart the oven, whether accidentally or as part of multi-step cooking instructions, this preheating issue *will* mess you up. With other ovens you can compensate for starting cold by simply adding a couple minutes to the bake time. With this oven you'd have to subtract time. This is counter-intuitive. If you forget, your food is burned as opposed to undercooked so you can't fix it later. Plus for reasons difficult to explain, the amount of time you'd have to subtract to compensate for the extra cooking done during the preheat cycle is much more unpredictable than the amount of time you'd have to add for a regular oven to make up for no preheating. The controls are hard to operate from an ergonomic standpoint as well. The rest of the oven functionality is okay, but why pay extra for an oven with digital controls if those controls work poorly? I can't speak to the reliability; I've only had it a few months.

Love this oven...
Date: 2009-12-05 | Rating: 5
I use this toaster daily, and even more often on weekends. Although toast isn't its strong point (it takes longer than a dedicated 2 slot toaster), it cooks most everything else with ease. It's great to not have to heat up your oven for a smaller meal, and this can easily handle a main course for my wife and I. With 4 elements, it heats very evenly (for a toaster oven) and the range of controls are plentiful. We have had ours since 11/04 and just recently the top knob stopped turning (it's stuck in the "toast" position which is where we use it most) I am going to buy another as I really like the design and functionality. Hopefully we'll have as much good luck with the second, as we had with the first.

Very nice oven, good features
Date: 2008-06-12 | Rating: 4
I've only had this oven about a week. So I can't review it's long lasting ability. But, the main reasons I bought this oven are important to me and maybe others. Most Important Feature: It has a timer feature which shuts the oven off when it reaches the time you set. So if you want it to run 10 minutes to warm something, and you leave the room and forget about the item, it will turn the oven off and not burn the item or your house down. We really need this feature in our house as many items have been forgotten over time and this feature in my last Black and Decker oven was essential and we had to have it again on any new oven we would buy. It's very large, so be sure you have room for it. But it's size is nice for two people to cook small dinners without having to run the large regular ovens. Can fit a 12" pizza. It has two bumpers on the back so it doesn't hit the wall when you put things in or adjust the knobs. And it has nice soft rubber feet so it doesn't scratch the counter top. Runs very hot so adjust the temp down about 50 degrees. Toasts well. Has a two position rack holder and an easily removed crumb tray. This is my third Black and Decker oven and both of my former ones lasted about 10 years. But for the price I paid for this one ($50), if it lasts even 5 I'll be happy.

I've had two and will not buy another
Date: 2010-01-25 | Rating: 3
It you remove the rating for durability, then the oven is great. We bought the first one and it lasted about three years. The current one at 18 months is dying. The top burner is out. We have two small children and it is used about once or twice a day for toast or a bagel. It should last longer. We had the stainless steel version of this model.

Good while markings last
Date: 2008-05-28 | Rating: 2
Love the product, while the markings lasted. Only had it about 9 months and all of the markings (temperature, time, toast level) have worn off rendering the product unusable. Have contacted B&D about the issue and they just continue to ask me for Model #, Date of Purchase and proof of purchase over and over again.

short life span
Date: 2008-04-11 | Rating: 2
We really liked this toaster oven while it lasted. Huge inside. Unfortunately it died after about 20 months.
